THE SMALLEST STUDIO IN THE WORLD

On the 6th floor in a tiny studio apartment in Stockholm, the idea of a small-scale production of hand made jackets and bags came to life.

With todays fast fashion mindset gaining more popularity than ever, LIKA strives to change the fashion climate by providing small scale, made to order fashion - made by one pair of hands. One might argue that LIKA is the smallest fashion studio in the world.

The LIKA product range mainly consists of our Uniques. These are one-of-one garments created from repurposed materials or deadstock fabrics, 100% handmade in Stockholm.

Aside from Uniques, LIKA also provides The Regulars Collection, a range of capsule wardrobe pieces designed to stand the test of time and trends - also handmade to order in Stockholm.

But what is production really like at the LIKA Studio? Well, not as extensive as it sounds. The designing, drafting and making of each and every product is managed by one person

LIKA has no massive stock of materials, warehouse storage or employees. The brand is by all means the definition of a small business with high hopes of changing the fashion mindset.

All LIKA garments and accessories are made to order, meaning production happens only when an order is placed. Because of this, dead stock is eliminated and all existing bags and jackets will come to use.

Fashion is a powerful societal driving force that has infiltrated our historical development far beyond strictly aesthetic aspects. However, this is not an excuse to consume its virtue in a reckless manner. We need to find new ways to exercise our interest in fashion while stalling the environmental impact. And this is possible by responsible consumption.

Be selective with your wardrobe. Do research before you buy. Hold the knowledge regarding production circumstances when it comes to the garments you choose to put on your skin. Choose small businesses, locally handmade products and repurposed materials if possible. Be selective and adapt a quality mindset when building your wardrobe.

With today's fast fashion mindset gaining more popularity than ever we have to revaluate our relationship to clothing.

When using second hand sourced materials we conserve energy, reduce air and water pollution, reduce greenhouse gases, and conserve natural resources.

Clothing represents a form of self-expression and art, as well as practicality and movement. Many of us find complex facets within ourselves by wearing garments and accessories that resonate with our self image and who we want to be.

What we put on our bodies has everything and nothing to do with who we are. Self expression and reasonable fashion is possible without harm.
